Community support

Our trained teams of volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies. When an incident happens, WRVS is there to support that local community through the challenges and help them recover through services like Good Neighbours, Meals on Wheels and community centres.
We also work in local areas to identify which WRVS services they might need in their recovery plans to ensure those affected by an incident are supported in a seamless manner from the time of the emergency until things get back to normal.
Supporting the Armed Services
WRVS works in partnership with the Army to support single and unaccompanied service personnel in the UK and abroad. Funded by the Ministry of Defence, we employ around 90 Services Welfare Officers.
Services Welfare Officers are paid staff and manage welfare centres offering a listening ear and practical help to soldiers who may be far from their family and friends. Services Welfare Officers can also act as a contact point for families at home.
