WRVS volunteers support thousands of older people every day to stay independent in their own homes. We offer practical help that can make all the difference – whether it's getting a lift somewhere, collecting something like a library book or shopping, or providing friendly company to break up the day.
The support we offer is personal, practical and preventative; not nursing care, but it helps people stay safe and well and can reduce isolation.
WRVS can provide a little bit of company and friendly social contact through our befriending services.
Good Neighbours services provide a little bit of support when its needed.
When older people come out of hospital, they can need more intensive support than usual to help get them back on their feet.
Our home library services offer a vital link to the local library for older people who can't get out so often.
Meal on Wheels is vital for older people who have difficulty with shopping, carrying food home or cooking for themselves.
