Remember the person is the annual flagship awareness-raising campaign. It's the big opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of dementia and to get people to 'remember the person' behind the dementia.
The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. The Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too.
The aim is to draw attention to the importance of good hydration in a care setting. Good hydration enables service users to enjoy a good quality of life, and prevents many illness which can often lead to hospitalisation.
The 2012 event will focus on how NHS leaders can tackle the challenge of implementing the changes brought about by the Health and Social Care Bill, while delivering high standards of care for patients and best value for taxpayer’s money.
Carers Week is also about celebrating the contribution that carers make to those they care for, and bringing to the fore the issues carers tell us are most important to them.
The biggest local government event in the country aimed at Chief Executives, leaders of the councils, officers and councillors, all those interested in the local government sector.
The United Nations General Assembly have designated 1 October the International Day of Older Persons.
Make a Difference Day provides people across the country with the opportunity to try out volunteering.
