Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Home from hospitalLouth WRVS Home from Hospital service has had a massive boost – a donation of £15,000 from Evan Cornish Foundation.

Louth Home from Hospital service provides an invaluable service for older people who are returning home from a stay in hospital, a time which can often be very stressful and worrying.

WRVS volunteers help older people when they arrive home by providing support such as helping with shopping, collecting prescriptions or walking the dog; simple tasks which can make all the difference to peace of mind.

WRVS Louth Home from Hospital service has over 50 volunteers who help over 200 older people each year recuperate at home.

"It is a really good project and for an elderly person, a stay in hospital can be quite scary for them so having support when they get home is vital."

Barbara Ward, daughter of Evan Cornish
The donation was made with the support of the Lincolnshire Community Foundation, who seek local good causes for the Foundation to support as part of their Grassroots Fund.
