Bob's story
Even though Bob was happy after he retired he still felt that there was something missing and approached Adur Volunteer Bureau for more information about volunteering. He was introduced to WRVS and became a volunteer driver in a local community transport scheme.
Bob gives up his time driving older people who are unable to access public transport. They find the help invaluable, not only are they able to travel in comfort to both health and social appointments, but the companionship is also very important to them. Bob has also put his IT skills to good use by volunteering his time in the administration office.
He has been volunteering for over ten years.
“It gets me out the house!… No seriously, I feel as though I am appreciated and making a really positive difference to peoples’ lives. It also makes you appreciate what you have in life yourself, which you could so easily take for granted.”
