Matthew's story

Matthew started volunteering at Pentyrch over 60s club in Wales just over a year ago. He started volunteering and found that he enjoyed it so much that he changed careers.

“I wanted to volunteer with older people and WRVS was one of the ones that I applied to and they were the first who got back to me.

"I ended up joining in this over 60s club and I’m kind of a general dogs body, part treasurer, part organiser so I help out on trips but basically from my perspective, I come in and have a great time."

Watch Matthew talk about why he volunteers.

"It’s the happiest time of my life and I’d recommend for everybody just to volunteer. Get a bit of a different perspective on life, do something worthwhile and not just for yourself. You will find there are a lot of rewards to it.

"It’s nice doing something worthwhile and nice actually seeing an immediate impact, to just seeing someone smile when you do something different or help them out."
