Team leaders

Role purpose
To co-ordinate the work of emergency services teams within a designated area.

Key objectives

  • Liaise with other team leaders and emergency services co-ordinators.
  • Assist with the recruitment and induction of volunteers in accordance with WRVS procedures.
  • To be volunteers’ local contact.
  • Co-ordinate training sessions for volunteers in conjunction with emergency services manager.
  • Liaise with representatives from other organisations where appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate local call outs and events.
  • Ability to travel throughout your locality and other locations, including occasional overnight stays.
Key skills required
  • Ability to drive.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Ability to interact with volunteers and employees.
Overview
Due to the nature of emergency work you will need a willingness to work outside of normal working hours, and to maintain a flexible approach to hours. Some unsociable hours may be involved as well as occasional overnight stays. You will report to your emergency services manager.

Training requirements include: foundation training, registration and information module, basic food hygiene, refresher training every two years, health & safety, team leader training and diversity training. This will all be provided by WRVS and you will be reimbursed of out of pocket expenses. 

This volunteering opportunity would be ideal for you if you want to contribute to the work of WRVS and help your local community in times of crisis, be part of a team, make new friends and will help you develop leadership skills.
