Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council - Putting older people first

Walsall image WRVS has developed a great partnership with Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and the local NHS primary care trust to set up an over-50s forum for the area.

The forum provides an opportunity for over 60 older people to provide feedback and their views on local services, and play a part in designing better support for older people in future.

The forum is now well established and meets every month. All three partners are committed to putting older people’s needs at the heart of the future development of services; the forum is a major step in achieving this.

"…I have been hugely impressed by the commitment shown by Sharon Sinclair, the local service manager. Thanks to Sharon’s support the forum has developed quickly. Over the year we have developed an excellent working relationship and I think that’s because we are both so committed. We both want the needs of older people to be put to the forefront and want them to have their voices heard in their communities.”

Paramjit Kaur, network development officer, Social Care and Inclusion, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council.
