Meal or book delivery and driving

News story image
One in three older people find it difficult to get where they want to go. No car, no bus, not as agile as they used to be, no options... Left stranded at home.

You could help out on our community transport schemes, and help older, housebound and disabled people by driving them to the shops, the doctor or to visit friends and family.

Other volunteer drivers and helpers also deliver meals to older and housebound people. Not only do they provide a much-needed service, they also help people maintain their independence. Each round lasts about 90 minutes, in which time you would deliver meals to about 12 homes.

These volunteering opportunities would be ideal for you if you want to make new friends, contribute to the work of WRVS and help older/housebound people in your local community.

Training relevant to the role will be provided by WRVS and you will be reimbursed of out of pocket expenses.

To register your interest in one of these roles or to find out more, call 0845 601 4670 (all calls charged at local rate) or register to volunteer online.
